The most popular one, is Ilha dos Amores and everybody is crazy about Marco A series or play he is in , is always a hit... and because he keeps himself to himself nobody knows who his girldfriend is... Can you imagine the speculation???

The press doesn´t dare to invade Marco´s private life!! He would be ruthless..he ´d sue them point blank... They have tried but to no avail..
That´s what makes him even more charming...

O. K Ilha dos Amores story is not as good as Vingança but the main character is the most charming, handsome and sexiest ( for the portuguese women loooooooool), portuguese actor and sooo...
it´s the most popular show!!

I think I can say more or less the reason why portuguese don´t like the english very much. : one of our most admired queens, Philipa of Lancaster, was english( back in the 14th century). She was the mother of Henry the Navigator and from then on portuguese princes were considered english princes too..
In the end of the 16th century when Portugal became part of Spain although king Felipe appointed a portuguese governor and maintained portuguese laws, , the english ruthlessly attacked all the portuguese ships they came across excusing themselves that Portugal no longer existed..Portugal was a part of Spain for them..
In the great Armada sea Battle between Felipe of Spain and Isabel I OF eNGLAND, portuguese backed Felipe of Spain , because he was already the portuguese king by then.His mother was Isabel of Portugal and the male portuguese heir had died in a battle against the moors in Morroco..

In the 19th century(Portugal was an independent country again). At the time the english made Portugal give them part of our lands around Mozambique, or else there would be a war,
Portugal agreed, because we are a small countryand could not face England , but the people never forgave England and the intellectuals never forgave OUR king...
A couple of years later , King Carlos and his eldest son were shot to death in the main Lisbon square. Two years later the monarchy fell and Portugal became a REPUBLIC AND BECAUSE MONARCHY FELL MOST people think that was why we had to endure a fascist dictarship for 50 years...
For most portuguese the english were to blame!!

This is a bit too much history..I think but , O. K..here is the reason why
Portuguese still don´t like the english till today..

Oh, that issue!! it´s off topic , but it´s a very interesting subject..
The moment Saramago talked about the subject the press here hurried to quote him..Especially in Catalunya.. . Your country has resisted for eight hundred years, most people can´t imagine why this subject was brought up again..
There have been polls here as well..Most people are in favour as long as the capital is Madrid ( just imagine ....)but, perhaps they are thinking of a kind of economic region, I don´t know..
