| I watched the videos. I can understand why you are so impressed with all this. It's fabulous..I admit. This girl Marina looks amazing and she moves superb as well...Is she among the best ones or just a favourite. Or both? I remember that I used to watch this when I was little (maybe my parents were watching and I with them..) and I was always wondering about the ball routines. It seemed weird to me. No offense Lana...I'm not saying this in a bad way. It's just that I imagine the ball rolling very far and it's seems weird that the girl can hold the ball on her foot or so.. The ribbons used to fascinate me. Ohhhh.....I almost forgot all about this because I did not watched this for such a long time... I once made my own ribbon. Of course had no idea what to do with that but I was jumping around the house..... What you do is far more serious. It's great actually... Thanks for the videos and for making me remember these facts (Otherwise, I would have forgot completely abt this...) _________________ Many of us promised....and we intend to keep this promise. We will be by your side no matter what...crying, hoping, suffering..but always yours. I pray for the girl. My sincere regrets for Petar and his family and friends. I'm terrbily sorry. |

It's so awesome that you liked the videos, Alex! Unfortunatly, Marina is not one of the best ones. She is just one of my favourites! She is very young (17, I think), so really Marina is only at the beginning of her career. She is verrrry good, though. Her apparatus handling is fantastic! hehe. I am envious a little.
Right now, the gymnasts getting the highest results are Olga Kapranova, Vera Sesina and Alina Kabaeva. They all are Russian. I'm not a big fan of any of them. Vera is my favourite of the three, but she's not really "free" when she does her routines. I cannot explain it... Olga has improved a lot, but she doesn't impress me. I want to like her, but I cannot. And Alina, well... She won the 2004 Olympics. You might have heard of her.

No offense taken! My mother still mocks me when I practice ball. She says that I look like a seal. As for holding the ball on my foot... I have big feet, so it makes it easier to hold the ball with them! In my routine, I actually throw my ball with my foot. hehe. My friends think it's weird, too. It's not a very commen sport here. So, often I get teased a lot for it!

Ribbon always looks gorgeous! It doesn't really matter what level the gymnast is, I think. hehe. And it's so cute and funny that you made yourself a ribbon! See you must have been a fan, but you don't remember it! Funny! Meh... I'm just in the Provincial level. It's not that "serious". I really love it, though! Rhythmic is seriously like my life. I need new interests!
I'll try to post some more videos, later! I'm really happy that you like them! |

That's because you can not impose what to like. If you don't click with them stop trying I can not compare, but I liked Marina a lot. She seems original and I like the links and transitions. It's just my humble opinion. She is nice to watch.

Yes..not very common. I admit. Still interesting. As long as you like it it's ok .

Maybe...haha... I have to search in my background and look after this details.
(Can you please explain in a few words..what AG implies and what RG...I don't know )

| THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!! for these I am away at the moment, but I have TONS of RG videos I can upload too, if anyone would like to request a specific gymnast I might be able to help (I mainly have Moni, other Bulgarians, Laysan, Ira, Zayka plus lots of groups) But my server will only let me upload max of 10Mb to yousendit.com or wherever, so I can't usually do montages or big training videos files I LOVE LOVE LOVE ALMU too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her ball routines are always SO beautiful. I admire her so much for carrying on, and not giving up.I have to go now, but will write more soon, when I have proper computer again :| |

You're right, Alex. It seems quite impossible to try and force myself to like Olga Kapranova. I can appreciate her as a gymnast, because I can tell that Olga is talented. Still, for me, she's really missing something. And yes, I like Marina a lot, too! And I agree with your humble opinion! Marina does some very original things in her routines. She's really fabulous to watch.

Well, in Ottawa, no one seems to know that rhythmic gymnastics even exists. They are always asking me about the uneven bars and vault. I'm always answering, "Umm... no. That's artistic gymnastics. We use ribbons, hoops and ummm... clubs." hehe. Than they usually look confused and answer, "Oh." It's really not a popular sport here. We don't even have a proper club. I train in the basement of a school. There are carpets, which we roll out and roll up after training, and a curtain that divides the gym in two... and that's it.
| Quote: | (Can you please explain in a few words..what AG implies and what RG...I don't know ) |
hmm... I'm really not an expert on AG. Lerka would do a better job explaining than me. I can try giving my definition of RG, though. Firstly, the most important thing in Rhythmic Gymnastics is the apparatuses. There are 5 different ones: ball, ribbon, hoop, clubs and rope. I've always been told that you must use the apparatuses as an extension of your body. A gymnast at the international level has 4 routines per year. These routines are acompanied by music and have the duration of 1 minute and 30 secs. RG is often compared to dance, as gymnasts are expected to interpret the music and move gracefully. :star: In order to learn how to move beautifully on the carpet, many gymnasts take ballet training each week. This dance training also helps with many of the movements in routines, such as balances and pivots. Other elements that are required in routines are leaps, flexiblities and body waves. To suceed at RG, a gymnast requires a high level of flexibility (in both her legs and back) and great co-ordination.
That was pretty much an overview of everything about RG. So, if you have any specific questions, please ask! I would be happy to answer them!

Oh, you are very welcome, Rachel!!!
I would lovvvve to see any videos that you have of Moni (in fact, any of the Bulgarian girls! ), Ira and the Bulgarian group. That would be sooo fantastic! Thanks so much, in advance!
Here are some more of my videos:
Moni's ball routine from 2004 Varna Vera Sesina's ribbon from the 2005 Euros (i think) Ira's clubs from the 2005 Corbeil Moni's hoop from Athens Olga's ball from the 2005 Euros Ira's hoop from Athens

| Oh.....Lana thank you very much. That was more than i expected. It is pretty clear. Not much to ask for right now... Actually what you said about RG gives me an idea about AG. Although I was under the impression that balls, ribbons and ropes are part of AG. It seems it's exact the opposite of that....huh...balls, ribbons seem more artistic than bars and beams to me... Thnaks again...very nice of you. Thanks for the videos and clarifications. Have a nice day, Alex _________________ Many of us promised....and we intend to keep this promise. | I will post the videos as soon as I can (but it won't be before Friday, I'm sorry ) Have you seen the famous Bulgrian group 'rewind' routine? It is from 1987 and it is incredible - the second part of the routine is exactly the same as the first, but in reverse I will see what I can find to post - I have many, MANY, M A N Y CDs full of RG routines!!! FWIW I am not a fan of Kapranova either for me she is unoriginal and her skills are all very similar (back-scale variations) I don't like Sessina either, although her rope routine in 2002 was nice. The Ukrainian girls are fabulous, I love Nata for her speed and dynamism and Anna for her grace. But my favourite 'school' of RG is Bulgrian, without question, for me it is without comparison. The originality and choreography is always soooooooooooooooooo fabulous |

wow...tough conditions. You'll be very, very, very famous one day and then you'll make clubs in Ottawa and you'll explain in every interview the very beginings of your career..hehe.. You are lucky you have people who likes this sport very much..and are willing to do almost everything just to make this work...I think it's very nice that you and the others work in not very proper places. It's nice that you train eitherway

Surprinsigly, I found out that I enjoy watching this videos a lot..heh . everyday you find out something new, isn't this right?!? I can't tell you exactly which is my favourite cause some of the videos don't work. I had some problems while downloading them I'll rewatch the ones I have and tell you after...
You said some of the girls actually practice ballet in order to manage to be flexible and artistic...Did you take any ballet lessons? Ballet is so beautiful and dramatic...

Yeah, the conditions aren't amazing. In all honesty, you don't need very much to practice RG. If you have a carpet, bars for ballet training and stretching on and apparatuses, than you can train. It's clean and the temperature is good (except for July or August!). So really, it's quite agreeable to train there! hehe. Yes, when I'm famous and rich... I actually do want to go into coaching, after I retire from competiting. And, I do feel lucky that all of the coaches have put so much effort and time into making the club work. Many of the girls have had lots of success and won many medals. So really, it doesn't matter where we train. If we are dedicated and commited to the sport... than good results will follow!

It's so great that you are enjoying the vids, Alex! hmm... that's so odd that some of them wouldn't download. Which ones were those? ... hehe, yes please do tell me! I'm very curious! hehe.

Yes, in fact, I do take ballet lessons. I take 3 hours a week at my RG club from a ballet coach. I adore ballet! I absolutely love it. I had 8 or 9 years of ballet training, before I switched to RG. Sometimes, I miss it... but RG is more "me" in a way. All the ballet training really helps in rhythmic in a lot of aspects. So, I'm grateful that I had it!
hugs and kisses, Lana |
