I do like many french singers.. Johny Halliday, Garou.. Helene Segara + not french, but often french-singing Lara Fabian.

I think it's normal, even if you don't understand. I love hear songs in languages I don't speak, you can listen to the melody of the words. It' very pleasant I find.
